Should You Tip a London Removals Company?
This is probably something you may not consider until you have moved, when all your possessions have arrived safely at their destination and the removals men are leaving. What is the right thing to do in this situation? Should you give the men a tip and if so how much? Most removals employees only get paid just above the minimum wage - this work is considered to be a blue collar or working class job. If you consider other jobs in this category such as waitresses and bar staff they often need their tips to get by.
You should not however feel obligated to tip as the removals men are simply doing their job. If you are very pleased with the service you have received you should not be afraid to give them a tip. I recently moved with a London removal firm they also offered London Storage and the entire service I received was very professional. In fact they managed to load up my house contents in one hour and at the other end only took one hour to unload. At this point I was still exploring my new home and was surprised when they told me they had finished. I tipped them 50.00 between them this may seem like a very generous tip but there were five of them and they had provided a very reasonable packing service. I was so pleased with the service that I recommended them to my friends and will definitely use them again should I move in the future.
Once you have used a removals firm and trust them it is easier to use them again than start looking fresh. You can tip anything from 1.00 to 30.00 each, a good general rule is 10.00 to 20.00 between them but you must not feel obligated. Whatever you do don’t be tempted to tip them with a nice cold beer, I’m sure after the hard work they would appreciate it but it wouldn’t be very responsible of you give them alcohol knowing that they would be getting behind the wheel. Even for the men not driving giving them a drink would be a bad idea, they could be called to help in further removals. You wouldn’t appreciate it if the men turned up smelling of drink, would you? It is a much better idea to give a tip, if you want to because the service was good.
